KUWAIT TO TRANSFORM TYRE GRAVEYARD INTO NEW CITY

Kuwait City: Kuwait announces plans to transform its huge tire graveyard into a new residential city. The two-square-kilometer area where tires were abandoned is located in the northern part of Kuwait.

Between 2012 and 2020 alone, there were three major fires in this area, where tires have been abandoned for 17 years. With this, the environmental concerns increased and the authorities decided to close it as soon as possible.

Oil Minister Mohammed al-Fares said the tires had now been removed and the Saad al-Abdullah City project would begin. The tires were moved to the Al Salmi area in 44,000 trips. This is where they are now temporarily stored.
