FEES FOR RENEWAL OF PERMITS FOR PERSON ABOVE 60 IN KUWAIT, NEED TO CHANGE DECISION

Kuwait City: Need to change the decision to impose a fee to renew the work permit of expatriates over 60 years of age who do not have a university degree. Mohammed Al Saq, Chairman of the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry, wrote a letter to Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Al Khalid requesting this.

The fee for renewal of work permit is 2000 Kuwaiti Dinars. He said the decision would cause Kuwait to lose skilled workers and affect the country's economy. He urged the government to rescind the decision and avoid implementing it.

After the decision not to renew the permits of 60-year-old expatriates, the Public Authority for Civil Information reported that more than 42,000 foreign workers left the private sector in Kuwait in the first half of 2021. This includes many professional workers, including doctors, some of whom have reportedly emigrated.
