RESIDENCY OF UNEMPLOYED WILL NOT RENEWED IN KUWAIT

Kuwait City: Kuwait is fast moving forward with linking jobs and educational qualifications. As of the end of August, 1,855 job titles had been linked. From now on, work permits for relevant jobs will be issued only if you have the correct educational qualifications, sources said. The provision applies to both Kuwaitis and non-Kuwaitis, a local newspaper reported, citing official sources. 


The Ministry of Education has set certain educational qualifications for each job and has decided not to renew the residency of those who do not have sufficient qualifications. An employee will no longer be allowed to renew a work permit unless he or she has sufficient academic qualifications to become a Kuwaiti or foreign national. 

Operators of technicians, trainers, supervisors, chefs, illustrators, and referees must have at least a diploma, and operators of machinery or equipment must have Intermediate Certificates - or Certificates at the primary level. 

For the positions of Director, Engineer, Doctor, Nurse, Meteorologist, General Physician, General Chemist, Geologist, Instructor, Teacher, Mathematician, Specialist in various specializations or in the field of Media, the academic level qualification is required with a bachelor's degree or qualifying degree. 

Sources revealed that a restaurant manager, food and beverage service, retail store and hotel reception jobs are allowed for those with academic qualifications below the standard of primary education. 

In addition, intermediate level certificates are sufficient for the positions of writer, sales representative, newspaper distributor, laborer, farmer, security guard and poultry worker.
