Kuwait City: It is estimated that the Kuwaiti labor market lost 199,000 migrant workers in 15 regions in one year. The figures are from March 2020 to March 202l. The real estate sector lost the most workers. The 53,000 workers who worked in the sector were lost. The loss of 37,000 workers came from the wholesale and retail trade, auto and bicycle repair sectors.

The number of workers did not increase much during this period as the labor market did not function and recruitment from abroad was blocked in the covid context. The increase was 369 workers in the electricity, gas and air conditioning sectors.

At the same time, 402,000 work permits were renewed in the first quarter of this year. It is estimated that 1.5 million people are employed in the private sector
