Kuwait City: Road congestion in Kuwait is likely to increase from Sunday. In the last few days, foreign schools have reopened but Arabic schools have not started functioning. With the resumption of schools, there will be huge congestion on the roads. Approximately 520,373 students are enrolled in public and private Arabic schools. During the opening of the school, the traffic department is making great preparations in anticipation of the traffic jam. Authorities said patrol vehicles would be set up on major highways and near schools to control traffic. Road traffic was light at this time of year.

Earlier, the government had rejected a proposal by the Traffic Council to ban vehicles older than 10 years as a solution to the growing traffic congestion in the country. In the meantime, the government will look into issues such as air pollution caused by the age of vehicles. Local newspapers reported that the government was moving to impose stricter conditions on issuing driving licenses to foreigners as part of its efforts to address the growing traffic congestion.

The main reason for the congestion on the roads is that the country is turning away from public transport. Everyone should be encouraged to use public transport, avoiding the situation of going to work in each vehicle. According to the Kuwait Society of Engineers, the situation in the country is such that health centers, schools and gymnasiums are concentrated in one place.
