PRISONS FULL, HOME MINISTRY SUSPENDS SECURITY CHECK

Kuwait City: The Interior Ministry has decided to suspend the security campaign against visa violators due to overcrowding in the deportation center. Authorities said the detention of more detainees could lead to the spread of infectious diseases and that security checks were being put on hold as a precaution. Hundreds of foreigners have been arrested in recent days in searches across the country. Authorities said more time was needed to deport all detainees at the deportation center before new offenders could be arrested.

Police in Kuwait are continuing their crackdown on criminals as the corona crisis eases. Many foreigners, including Indians, are arrested on a daily basis. Many who arrive at the deportation centers do not have passports in their hands, leading to delays in repatriation. Within two weeks, about thousand people had arrived at the deportation center. Air service has not been normal and proceedings have been slowed down. The government estimates that there are more than 180,000 illegal immigrants in the country. The authorities have decided to arrest and deport them through extensive investigations.
