CONSULTATIONS UNDERWAY TO ALLOW RESTRICTED CYCLING ON JABER BRIDGE

Kuwait City:  The Directorate General of Traffic is considering a proposal by the Public Authority for Roads to allow restricted cycling on the Jaber Bridge. The proposal calls for a two-and-a-half-hour cycle ride on the Jaber Bridge on Fridays every week. The recommended time is from five to seven in the morning.


Safety sources said they were studying the Road Authority's proposal. If permission is granted for cycling, special arrangements will be made by the Road Authority in collaboration with the Ministry of Works and Traffic Engineering. Signboards will be erected on the bridge and other measures will be taken to ensure the safety of cyclists. In view of several recent accidents, cycling on the Jaber Bridge has been banned.
