BITCOIN MINING EQUIPMENT SEIZED IN KUWAIT

Kuwait City: The General Administration of Customs has seized technical equipment believed to be used for mining bitcoin, a digital currency. No information has been released yet about the origins of these devices. The Customs Communication and Information Authority was approached for information about the equipment. The authority has confirmed that Bitcoin is a mining tool. 


Meanwhile, sources said discussions were underway on what to do with the seized equipment and what legal action should be taken. It is clear that a large amount of energy is expended in the mining process. It is being examined whether Kuwait is targeting such activities due to the low cost of electricity consumption locally. Sources said the problem was that the import of these devices was not criminalized or prevented.
