Kuwait City: Kuwait's permanent representative Adam Al Mullah announced that Kuwait has been elected to the Executive Board of the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) for a four-year term (2021-2025).

Kuwait received 153 votes, according to Ambassador Al Mulla's statements to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).

Al Mulla thanked the Ministries of Education and Foreign Affairs for their support of Kuwait's UNESCO mission, as well as the Organization's member states for their vote of confidence in Kuwait.

"The large number of votes for Kuwait reflects the country's good standing in international forums as well as the significant efforts made to promote cultural development and enlightenment," he said.

The importance of the UNESCO Executive Board in endorsing the Organization's budget, strategies, and projects was highlighted by Al Mulla.

According to him, the 28-member Board oversees UNESCO's overall management, prepares the General Conference's agenda, and ensures that its decisions are properly implemented. The Executive Board's functions and responsibilities are primarily derived from the General Conference's constitution and statutes.
