LOW POWER RATES, ABANDONED HOUSES IN KUWAIT ARE REPORTEDLY BEING USED FOR BITCOIN MINING

Kuwait City: Discovery of Bitcoin-operated devices operating in abandoned homes in the private residency area. It is estimated that this is due to the low power tariff in the country. The government is moving towards a local ban on bitcoin mining, a digital currency, in the absence of a law restricting the mining and encryption of virtual currencies. 


Users of bitcoin mining equipment disconnect some of the cooling equipment in the home, taking this precaution in anticipation of problems in the event of an abnormal power charge. Then the amount of current saved by turning off the air conditioning equipment is used. The Ministry of Power has decided to intensify monitoring of excessive power consumption, especially in abandoned houses.
