KUWAIT,  — The Health Ministry announced on Wednesday that the first infection of the Omicron COVID-19 variant  recorded.
Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad, the ministry's official spokesman, told KUNA that the Omicron case involved a traveller from one of the African countries that had an Omicron infection.

According to Al-Sanad, the traveller had previously received both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine and is now under institutional quarantine in accordance with health protocols.
He went on to say that the ministry had taken the necessary precautions after several countries announced the discovery of the new variant.
The pandemic situation in Kuwait is currently stable; however, citizens and residents are advised to receive the booster vaccine shot to assist the ministry in containing the virus's spread, he said.
