NEW MATERNITY HOSPITAL IN KUWAIT IS EXPECTED TO OPEN IN SECOND QUARTER OF 2022

Kuwait City: The Ministry of Public Works expects that the New Maternity Hospital will be completed and handed over in the second quarter of 2022, once the Ministry of Electricity and Water provides power to the hospital.

The most significant impediment to the project's progress is the 'Sabah E main power station,' which has been summarised, discussed, and followed up on, and approval has been given for feeding the project from existing power stations until March 2022, when work on the 'Sabah E main power station' is completed.

Among the other challenges, according to the sources, is the failure to award work visas to bring in skilled workers from overseas, as well as the difficulty of some workers to return to Kuwait – people who have been stranded outside the nation since February 2020 owing to Covid-19.

Meanwhile, the sources stated that 26 backup power generators cover 100 percent of the hospital facilities in the event of a power outage, and that the project contract includes contractual operational maintenance periods that begin immediately after the issuance of the initial receipt certificate, which includes operational maintenance for all project works and its systems for two years, and optional operational maintenance for all project work for three years that will be billed.
