THE MINISTRY OF HEALTH REVEALS THE LATEST QUARANTINE AND ISOLATION PROTOCOLS IN KUWAIT

Kuwait City: The official spokesman for the Ministry of Health, Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad, announced some developments in the context of keeping pace with the latest protocols to confront the Covid-19 epidemic, with regard to the definition of the vaccinated, the description of the person in contact, the period of quarantine required for him, the injured and the period of isolation required of him, and this varies with the situation of the case regarding immunization, These protocols will be implemented starting today, Tuesday, January 11, 2022.


Dr. Al-Sanad explained that a person is considered a contact if he has been in contact with another person whose infection has been confirmed, for 15 minutes or more, without covering the mouth and nose, and at a distance of less than two metres.

Al-Sanad indicated that the period of quarantine for contacts varies with the position on immunization, explaining that if a person is immune, he is obligated to quarantine for a period of 14 days from the date of contact, with the possibility of ending the stone before that if a PCR examination is performed from the seventh day, provided that the result is correct, while The unvaccinated must be quarantined for 14 days from the date of contact.

On the other hand, Dr. Al-Sanad announced, within the framework of updating the protocol for the period of isolation of the infected person, reducing the period to 7 days for the vaccinated and 10 days for the non-vaccinated from the date of the first smear that proved the infection, stressing the need to continue to cover the mouth and nose during and after the isolation period. 

In the same context, Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad explained that the immunized person is everyone who received the “third” booster dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, or everyone who has been over a period not exceeding nine months from the date of receiving the “second” dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, or all Whoever has been infected with less than 28 days has passed since the date of the first swab that proved the infection after the end of the isolation period, adding that whoever received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine is considered immunized within 9 months of receiving the dose, and it is advised to take the booster dose two months after the dose Johnson's vaccine, in order to maintain the highest possible degree of efficacy.

In addition, Dr. Al-Sanad noted the necessity of avoiding contact with others if a person feels respiratory symptoms such as a runny nose, sneezing, coughing “cough” or sore throat, or feeling ill, headache or fever, taking care to take a sufficient amount of rest, and drinking a lot of fluids, And take fever-reducing medications when necessary, and seek medical advice or help in case symptoms persist or intensify.

Al-Sanad concluded his statement by thanking all health cadres, national competencies and other loyal competencies in the specialized technical teams for following up and updating preventive protocols, according to the latest global health developments, in order to preserve public health, and the health of citizens and residents.
