KUWAITI PARLIAMENT APPROVED CHANGES TO THE PRINTING AND PUBLISHING LAWS

Kuwait City: The Kuwaiti National Assembly passed a draught bill amending some sections of the Printing and Publishing Law in its second session on Thursday. Only one guest voted against the law, 47 voted in favour of the amendment, and two others abstained.


The amendments reduced the prohibitions from 11 to five, ensuring that the law prevents outraging public morals, as well as the disclosure of confidential information and prejudice to people's dignity and religious beliefs, advocating or inciting contempt for any group of society, and harming Kuwaiti relations with other Arab or friendly countries. 

The modifications decreased the fine for violating the Amir authority to no more than KD 10,000. (USD 33,000). Dr. Hamad Rohaldeen, Minister of Information and Culture, thanked the MPs for their help in passing this legislation.
