Kuwait City: According to the General Administration of Civil Aviation, Kuwait International Airport saw an 8% decline in passenger traffic, a 5% increase in aircraft movement, and an 8% increase in air cargo traffic last year compared to 2020. Duaij Al-Otaibi, Deputy Director-General for Aviation Safety, Air Transport, and Aviation Security, stated in a statement that the overall number of passengers last year was 3,560,280, compared to 3,875,061 in 2020. He also stated that the entering passenger movement in 2021 was 1,458,163 passengers, up from 1,835,271 passengers in 2020, while the outward passenger movement was 2,102,117 passengers, up from 2,039,790 passengers in 2020. He claimed that the overall aircraft movement to and from Kuwait International Airport in 2021 was 48,257 flights, up from 46,062 flights in 2020. Regarding the volume of air freight at Kuwait International Airport, Al-Otaibi noted that the total in 2021 amounted to 208,721,162 kilogrammes, compared to 193,863,062 kilogrammes in 2020.
