SPINSTERHOOD RATES ARE INCREASING - COVID AND SOCIAL FACTORS ARE TO BLAME

Kuwait City: According to the Arabic Gulf Research Center, the rising and ongoing COVID-19 epidemic, as well as several sociocultural variables, have raised rates of spinsterhood among girls in the Arab globe. According to a report released on the center's official websites on Sunday, Arab girls have the highest percentage of spinsterhood among women in the world, owing to the unstable circumstances generated by the spread of the Coronavirus and its influence on social and economic levels. According to the survey, education, self-affirmation, and family support all contributed to an increase in women's unwillingness to marry.

Restrictions put on Arab communities as a result of the development of the Coronavirus since 2020, degradation of Arab individual living situations, unemployment, poverty, and inflation are all reasons that have exacerbated young people's rejection of marriage, according to the report. The study showed how the pandemic fostered a state of despair and isolation driven by fears of infection, particularly with the rising death toll, and how these variables influenced marriage decisions and plans during the last two years.
