EPA URGES CO-OPERATIVE SOCIETIES TO REPLACE PLASTIC BAGS WITH ECO-FRIENDLY BAGS

Kuwait City: Sheikh Al Ibrahim, Director of the Public Relations and Media Department of the Environment Public Authority, has asked the Union of Cooperative Societies to replace single-use plastic bags with eco-friendly bags.

He said the authority had distributed one million eco-friendly bags to cooperatives in all governorates with the aim of reducing the environmental damage caused by plastic. The project was started with the support of the Environmental Protection Fund.

Instead of disposable plastic bags, 100% eco-friendly bags manufactured by the Environment Public Authority were distributed to the cooperatives. The campaign was launched in October last year with the aim of minimizing the use of plastics. These bags are made of calcium carbonate and can carry a weight of up to 10 kg.
