Kuwait City: The Kuwaiti Cabinet was briefed on the referral to the public prosecutor of two senior army officers, including a major general, for alleged theft of public funds in connection with a Ministry of Defence deal for the procurement of Eurofighter Tycoon jets. Deputy Prime Minister, Interior Minister, Acting Foreign Minister, and Acting State Minister for Cabinet Affairs Sheikh Ahmed Mansour Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah said after the talks that ministers were made aware of the matter, which was detailed in a letter from the Public Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha). Nazaha made the claims after being informed of the possible "corruption" by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense on June 16, last year.

The government emphasised its intention to "fight and eliminate corruption in all its manifestations, and not to be indulgent with anyone who may be tempted to misappropriate public funds." In other news, the ministers adopted proposals for many draught legislation pertaining to the state budget for 2022-23 for ministries and government entities, which were submitted to His Highness the Amir before being referred to the National Assembly. This came at a briefing by Minister of Finance and Minister of State for Economic Affairs and Investment Abdulwahab Al-Rasheed, Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance Aseel Al-Munaifi, and Kuwait Investment Authority Managing Director Ghanim Al-Ghunaiman.
