Kuwait City: Dr. Mohammad Al-Faris, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Oil, Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy, stated that Kuwaitization as a policy has been authorised by Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC), and that all required steps will be done to "Kuwaitize" the oil sector.

This was stated by Minister Al-Faris during the National Assembly's regular session on Tuesday, after the parliament moved on to discussing the item of questions, in response to a parliamentary question about the reason for renewing the contracts of non-Kuwaiti engineers in the Petroleum Corporation. He explained that the sector's Kuwaitization procedures will be carried out in two stages, beginning with direct employment, where 2,000 Kuwaitis were employed in the previous year, and then moving on to Kuwaitization of the private sector, represented by contractor companies, which employ 30 percent of the workers in this sector. In addition, in response to another parliamentary question about the employment of engineers in the Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy, Al-Faris stated that the government is interested in appointing engineering graduates, whether university students or diploma holders, to the Ministry.

The optimal utilisation of engineers in water treatment facilities was examined, according to Al-Fares, who also mentioned the drafting of an integrated plan to revitalise the sector and enhance the level of engineers so that they are recruited appropriately based on the ministry's demands. He also reaffirmed the Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy's commitment to the Civil Service Council's decision to fire resident personnel and replace them with Kuwaiti engineers and technicians.
