Kuwait City: The controversy following the cancellation of the yoga meditation camp has been raging on social media. The government has banned a yoga camp in the Bur al-Sur area, led by introductory and yoga instructor Iman al-Husseinan. The cancellation of the women's yoga program has sparked widespread social controversy in the country. Protesters accused the cancellation of events without any warning in the name of preserving cultural values, customs and traditions, which would tarnish the image of the country. They are not against yoga.

The Yoga Festival led by Saudi Arabia was celebrated last day. Iman al-Hussein said he was surprised by the interior ministry's decision and would take strong legal action against those who banned the event without following due process or giving reasons. They said they would protest in Erada Square on Monday against the MPs' encroachment on women and freedom and that it was unfortunate that the government, which was supposed to act independently, succumbed to external pressures. Hamdan al-Azmi, a member of parliament, had earlier demanded that the government ban yoga for women only. The controversy has sparked strong protests against Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah al-Khalid.
