KUWAITIS ARE TREATED IN AMERICAN HOSPITALS FOR $200 TO $300 MILLION EACH YEAR

Kuwait City: Kuwait will have to pay or will have paid 677 million dollars to around 45 American hospitals in total expenses outstanding for Kuwaiti treatment abroad, according to the American daily 'Boston Globe.' The Kuwaiti government's attitude regarding treatment overseas, according to the publication, has resulted in these debts accumulating since 2018. 


The hospitals resorted to Congress and the US State Department for assistance, according to the newspaper. It was successful in its efforts in late 2020, when Kuwait took the initiative to pay its bills, which was kept a secret until last month, when Dana Farber Cancer Hospital released its financial statements and added that the Kuwaiti government had put in place guarantees to prevent future delays in the payment of US hospital bills. According to the Boston Globe, Kuwait spends between $200 million and $300 million each year in American hospitals treating Kuwaitis.
