TWO PRICES FOR SAME PRODUCT, VIOLATION OF LAW IN KUWAITI MARKETS AND SOCIETIES

Kuwait City: A team of inspectors from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry's Commercial Regulation and Consumer Protection inspected central markets and co-operative societies. The inspection was carried out to ascertain whether there was sufficient stock, including food items, and whether the price was accurate. As the holy month of Ramadan approaches, the Ministry of Commerce has decided to keep a close watch on the market to prevent inflation.

Hamid al-Dafri, head of the ministry's capital emergency team, said the inspection found two different prices for the same product in some markets. The institutions of those who committed such offenses were closed down and transferred to the Commercial Prosecution for legal action. He reiterated that stern legal action would be taken against those who violated the law by artificially inflating prices.
