Kuwait City: In the last nine months of 2021, the country's demand for imported cosmetics and accessories fell by 8.2 percent. Experts blamed the drop on the requirement in many places to wear masks, which reduced the demand for cosmetics.

Cosmetics imports totaled KD 20.7 million in the last nine months of 2021, compared to KD 23 million in the same period of 2020, according to statistics from the Ministry of Commerce. Cosmetics and skin care products (other than pharmaceuticals), including sun protection, hand and foot care products, are among the imported items. Hair extensions and wigs were also imported at a rate of KD15 million during the same period, compared to KD11 million in the pre-Corona era.
