Kuwait City: The Kuwait Aviation Authority has begun a series of projects to modernise the country's meteorological forecasting systems. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is carrying out several projects, including the installation of early warning systems for forecast sand storms, the replacement of monitoring devices, and the expansion of mechanised monitors for services on the ground, in the agricultural sector, and at sea, according to Imad Al-Jalawi, the DGCA deputy director general.

On World Meteorological Day, March 23, Al- Jalawi announced that the authority planned to build a system for examining factors of high altitude sky, a system for manufacturing hydrogen, early warning systems for winds and lightning, and a mobile meteorological system. Furthermore, there will be studies and reports on climatic changes, their impact on civilization, and ways to cope with these changes.

These projects contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals of promoting a high-quality health environment, a sustainable living environment, and a diverse economy for UN member states. Al-Jalawi has stated that the use of the new technology will be successful in taking measures ahead of forecasted severe weather conditions, potentially saving lives.
