Kuwait City: MP Badr Al-Hamidi submitted a proposal to change the Foreigners Residency Law, which was forwarded to the Legal and Legislative Affairs Committee. Al-Hamidi took this action roughly a year after proposing the cancellation of residency permits for expats suffering from persistent mental or neurological disorders, which might take years to treat. This idea is still being considered by the relevant legislative committees.

According to the lawmaker's most recent plan, any foreigner applying for a visa to work in the nation, engage in a commercial activity, or join a family must attach an approved medical certificate proving that he is free of chronic, psychiatric, or contagious problems to his application.

He should also include a document showing his genetic makeup or DNA, as well as the results of tests used to diagnose mental problems. If it is established that the foreigner has any of these ailments, the recruiter must take steps to allow the foreigner to return to his home country at his own expense.

According to Al-Humaidi, the purpose of his plan is to preserve Kuwaiti society by insuring that none of its residents develop the aforementioned diseases. He emphasised the need of preserving Kuwait's health, social values, customs, and traditions.
