EACH YEAR, 500 INSTANCES OF COLON CANCER ARE REPORTED IN KUWAIT, ACCORDING TO MINISTRY OF HEALTH

Kuwait City: The Ministry of Health says that 500 cases of colon cancer are reported in the country every year. This was stated by Abdullah Al Haddad consultant in general and colorectal surgery at Mubarak Hospital and the head of the Association of Surgeons and Proctology. He also stressed the importance of early screening to diagnose the disease and increase the recovery rate. Al-Haddad was speaking at a ceremony organized by the Medical Society in collaboration with the Association of Surgeons and Proctologists at Mubarak Hospital on the occasion of Colon Awareness Month.


He spoke about the importance of awareness programs to prevent and eliminate the spread of the disease through tests and endoscopy to detect small polyps in the large intestine or rectum. Early detection of the disease can increase the recovery rate. He also pointed out that it would be beneficial to educate people on how to function when they detect any symptoms such as changes in bowel function and air problems.
