FOOD WAS OVERPRICED, NINE OUTLETS OF A PROMINENT DOHA RESTAURANT WERE CLOSED

Doha: Following the discovery of high food pricing, Qatari authorities closed nine branches of a renowned restaurant chain in Doha. The Ministry of Commerce and Industry took the action. Afghan Brothers, a renowned restaurant chain, officials have been charging high amounts for food items delivered by house order. 


The Ministry of Commerce and Industry investigated the complaints and determined that they were valid. Customers were charged more than the price listed on the restaurant menu, according to the probe. The study also discovered that consumers were being compelled to chose certain resources in violation of the price increase's provisions. As a result, the ministry ordered the closure of nine of the restaurant's locations. 

The ministry said the branches had been closed for two weeks. The Qatari Ministry of Commerce and Industry said in a Twitter post that branches of the Afghan Brothers restaurant in Barwa Village, Al Wakrah, Al Azizia, Al Ryan, Al Nasser Street, Bin Umran, Airport Street, Umm Salal Mohammed and Al Mirgab were closed. 

Authorities also warned that stern action would be taken against companies that did not comply with the terms of the price hike. Strong action will be taken against the institutions which repeat such violations.
