Kuwait City: According to the Civil Services Commission, 13,000 expats working in the government sector have been fired in the last five years. The number of expats working in various government institutions had risen to 79,000. With the implementation of new Kuwaitization laws (Resolution No 11/2017) as part of a five-year plan, the number of expats has been reduced to 66,000, with the majority of them working in the Ministry of Health and Education.

As the five-year plan relating to Resolution No 11/2017 comes to a conclusion in August, new job group ratios will be assigned in ministries, government organisations, and institutions. The replacement strategy will be maintained as long as there are specialist job openings for foreigners in such disciplines.
