POLLS ON MAY 21 IN KUWAIT

Kuwait City: The order on the 2022 Municipal Council elections will be published in the Official Gazette on Wednesday, while candidate registration will take place for 10 days beginning April 14 and the elections will take place on May 21.


According to the source, the number of eligible voters for the next election is 602,156 in 10 districts, with 290,239 males and 31,917 females. According to the source, the Election Law requires that a candidate be a qualified voter and that no one file for office in more than one district. 

In case of filing the candidacy in more than one district, the candidate must cancel his registration in other districts and ensure he is registered only in one district before the end of the period specified for the registration of candidates; otherwise, his candidacy in all districts shall be considered void, the source explained, adding that the number of polling stations is expected to reach 660.
