Dubai:  UAE suspends visa stamping of expatriates. Emirates ID will be used as a residence ID instead of a visa, which came into effect on the 11th of this month. Emirates has announced that expatriates arriving in the UAE will no longer have to go through special procedures to obtain a visa and Emirates ID, and residency applications will no longer be unified.

The new order was issued by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security. Now when expatriates arrive in the UAE, all they have to do is check their passport number and Emirates ID. Previously, visa holders were required to affix a visa for two to ten years on a resident visa.

Previously, the pink Visa sticker on passports was considered the primary residence document. Expatriates were required to display copies of the document wherever resident proof was required. This method is now discontinued. The pink residency sticker will continue to be available virtually through the ICP app, according to the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security.
