Kuwait City: The Eta Aquariids meteor shower will be seen from Kuwait on May 6 as it crosses the Earth's atmosphere, according to Kuwaiti astronomer Adel Al-Saadoun on Wednesday. The meteor shower would be visible in the sky from April 19 to May 28, peaking on May 5-6. The Eta Aquariids, called after the Aquarius constellation, are derived from the debris of Halley's Comet, a well-known comet that appears every 76 years from Earth. According to Al-Saadoun, the meteor will leave a path of dust, fumes, and pebbles. When the Earth's orbit crosses with the orbits of comets, it pulls them to the atmosphere at a speed of 66 km/s. They burn at an altitude of around 80 kilometres above the Earth's surface. The Kuwaiti astronomer suggested that the optimal period to observe meteor activity would be between 2 a.m. and daybreak.
