Kuwait City: The Ministry has monitored 86 unlicensed electronic media services, 20 of which have been referred to the Public Prosecution, according to Information Ministry sources. Legal proceedings against the rest are nearing completion. It is estimated that the Electronic Publishing Department has licensed over 140 electronic media outlets.

Article 16 of the Act provides for the right to revoke a license if you do not practice within six months of receipt. Also, a request for renewal must be made within six months from the date of expiration of the license. The Ministry works through the relevant agencies to regulate unlicensed news accounts. Sources said that they will be referred to the prosecution to take necessary action against them.
