LONG QUEUES OF VEHICLES AT GAS STATIONS IN KUWAIT, COMPANY BLAMED LABOR SHORTAGE

  • 27/05/2022

Kuwait City: The shortage of workers, according to Abdul Hussein Al Sultan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ola Fuel Marketing Company, is due to traffic congestion at the company's petrol pumps. Vehicles formed long lines in front of the gas stations. Their numbers have dropped by more than half as a result of the inability to recruit workers. He explained that this was due to a decrease in the number of pumps in the stations.

The workforce has been decreased from 850 to 350. As a result, the number of pumps that were running was reduced. There has been no authority to bring in foreign employees since the onset of the Kovid pandemic. He also requested that Kuwaiti domestic helpers be used. The issue is a lack of qualifications or training to work in this occupation. Al-Sultan stated that he will consult with the Manpower Authority and find a solution within a week.
