FIFA WORLD CUP, QATAR'S ECONOMY WILL GET BIG BOOST, OFFICIALS SAY

Doha: There will be no slowdown in the economy of Qatar after the FIFA World Cup and the hosting of the World Cup will boost the growth of the economy, officials said. Qatari Businessmen Association Chairman Sheikh Faisal bin Qasim Al Thani said that the World Cup is the perfect opportunity to fulfill the goals of the Qatar National Vision Document-2030, completely ruling out that Qatar's economy will go into recession after hosting the FIFA World Cup.


In an interview with Qatar News Agency, Sheikh Faisal stated that spending on World Cup projects will increase the country's GDP by 1.5 percent, especially in the context of continuing the projects related to the Qatar National Vision Document-2030. 20,000 crores have already been spent on infrastructure like roads, ports, airports, metro, housing units, free zones and tourism.

After the tournament, there will be benefits from infrastructure development. The World Cup is also a heavy factor in attracting foreign investment. Efforts and promotions to increase foreign investment are in progress. He also pointed out that all these will be beneficial for the future of the country as an investment and tourism hub. Economic expert Dr. Abdullah Al Khader also stated that the infrastructure built for the World Cup will benefit the country to a large extent even after the World Cup.

Infrastructure is not limited to the World Cup, especially in light of the launch of large-scale projects, including in the field of liquefied natural gas production. In the past, the country used to spend 50 crores per week on infrastructure in various sectors. Aviation and hospitality sectors will also benefit from the World Cup. Tourism will also play a big role in the benefits of the tournament.

A better experience for visitors will create interest in visiting Qatar again. Al Khader added that all these will pave the way for higher income of the tourism sector even after the World Cup. Research centers and international institutions have estimated that Qatar's economy will perform well.
