BOMB THREATS AT SCHOOLS ACROSS NEW ZEALAND

  • 28/07/2022

At least a dozen schools in New Zealand received bomb threats, causing extensive disruption in what is suspected to be an international cyberattack.

As a result, several of the schools involved were either locked down or evacuated.

The new threats come just 24 hours after hoax phone calls were made to four New Zealand schools in Waikato, Thames, and Gisborne on the North Island.

Cherie Taylor-Patel, president of New Zealand's Principals Federation, told RNZ that she had communicated with the Ministry of Education, who had "understood that this was genuinely a cyberbot coming in from overseas."
