AROUND 8,000 EXPATS DRIVING PERMITS CANCELLED IN KUWAIT

Kuwait City: Security sources have confirmed that in the first half of this year alone, the driving licenses of around 8,000 expatriates have been cancelled. The reason is non-compliance with conditions for obtaining a license. Also, the license of 50 citizens has been banned. This can be caused by vision problems. Thousands of expats have had their licenses revoked for non-compliance.

Some of these were obtained after submitting a work permit based on salary, employment and university certificate conditions. But many had their licenses automatically revoked when they changed jobs or took pay cuts. There are proposals by the Home Ministry to tighten the issuance of driving licenses and limit them to those who meet the conditions. A block has also been placed on the license of resident students who have completed their studies.
