AIRLINES OPERATING AT AIRPORT CAUTION ABOUT REQUIREMENTS FOR EXPAT ENTRY INTO KUWAIT

Kuwait City: All airlines using Kuwait International Airport are required by a directive from the Directorate-General of Civil Aviation to follow the directive and refrain from bringing passengers into Kuwait in contravention of established laws and regulations. Meaning that unless they contact the Kuwaiti embassies or consulates in their respective countries to acquire the entry visa endorsed on their passports prior to travel, persons who arrive for the purpose of residence and hold one of the visas listed below are not permitted to enter Kuwait. The DGCA made it clear that it had lately come to their attention that some airlines were failing to follow the directives issued by the Immigration Division of the Ministry of the Interior.

According to the DGCA, those who do not have an approved entrance visa will not be permitted to enter Kuwait, and those who do so will be sent back to their place of origin at the expense of the airline. Passengers who come to work for the government or public institutions, in the private sector, engage in commercial or industrial activity, practise a profession or a craft, work as private domestic workers or in a similar capacity, join a family, or enrol in school are among the categories of travellers whose visas are approved by embassies.

Categories that are forbidden to enter and are returned to their country at the expense of the airline include if they do not carry a “passport/visa”, expiry date of the passport/visa/residency, if the visa is not certified by the embassy or consulate abroad, if the visa is not original, if the person has valid residence permit but exceeded six months of residence abroad, residents of the Gulf countries if the validity of the “passport/residency” is less than six months, or the professions are not permitted, according to Circular No. “46/2016” issued on Nov 11, 2016 and if they do not carry a police clearance certificate.
