Kuwait City: Kingfishing will be prohibited until October 15, according to Dhaher Al-Suwayan, the president of the Kuwaiti Fishermen Union. He urged all fishermen to follow the fishing seasons in order to protect the nation's fish stocks and fish resources. According to a statement by Al-Suwayan, the fishing industry is one of the most crucial ones for the nation's food security and should be assessed by officials so that it may be developed and receive more assistance. He emphasised that unlike other subsidies for food security sectors, which have changed over time, support for fishermen has remained constant since the early 1990s.

He pointed to the need to allow fishermen to fish for mead inside Kuwait Bay with the controls set by the Environment Public Authority and the supervision of the fisheries sector in the Public Authority for Agriculture Affairs and Fisheries Resources, stressing that the mead fish are found only in shallow waters and leaving them without fishing makes them migrate to neighboring countries.
