KUWAIT UNIVERSITY ABOUT TO MAKE CRUCIAL DECISION REGARDING MERGER OF PUBLIC HEALTH AND ALLIED MEDICAL SCIENCES

Kuwait City: The Kuwait University Council is set to approve the committee's recommendation to include the College of Public Health in the College of Allied Medical Sciences for a variety of reasons, the most important of which are the university's academic interest, the enhancement of its scientific status, and the elimination of administrative slackness. 


The University's Faculty Association, on the other hand, opposes this move, believing that the college is a valuable addition to the Colleges of the Center for Medical Sciences and thus should remain separate and not be included in the College of Allied Medical Sciences. According to academic sources at Kuwait University, "the decision to'merge' will have great benefits for the university, including stopping the waste of public money and controlling the teaching process in the college due to a severe shortage of national cadres, to the extent that one of the scientific departments has only one doctor, and the rest are foreign professors."
