Kuwait Announces Major Offshore Gas Discovery with Record-Breaking Well

The Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) has announced a major exploratory achievement with the discovery of the Jazza offshore natural gas field. Initial tests of the Jazza-1 well revealed an exceptional production rate, making it the highest-producing vertical well ever recorded in Kuwait's Managish geological formation. The field is also notable for its high-quality reserves, which have low carbon dioxide, no hydrogen sulfide, and no associated water, making it both an environmentally and technically favorable find.

Preliminary estimates indicate the field spans an area of approximately 40 square kilometers and contains substantial resources, estimated at one trillion cubic feet of gas and over 120 million barrels of condensates. KOC emphasized that these figures are initial and could increase with further exploration of other reservoirs within the Jazza field. This discovery is the latest in a series of successful offshore finds, following the Al Nokhda and Al Jalaiah fields, highlighting rapid progress in Kuwait's offshore operations.

Senior officials hailed the discovery as a strategic milestone that supports Kuwait's 2040 vision for enhancing national energy security and production capacity. The Minister of Oil stated that work is underway to fast-track the development of these offshore fields to integrate them into the national production system, which will fuel economic growth and create new job opportunities. The achievement was also praised as a demonstration of the exceptional technical skill and leadership of Kuwait's national workforce.
