Kuwait City: Ahmad Al-Shatti, the director of the Ahmadi Health District, has vehemently refuted the rumour that monkeypox has been detected at Adan Hospital, emphasising that both the hospital and the district are monkeypox-free. Al-Shatti revealed in an exclusive statement that the medical professionals at Adan Hospital were keeping an eye on a Kuwaiti child who had just returned from Bosnia and was thought to have monkeypox. The child was referred to the Communicable Diseases Hospital even though the doctors in charge of treating him did not see any signs of monkeypox, he said.

The results of the tests, he continued, showed that the child does not have smallpox and that his rashes are instead the result of exposure to certain foods or changing weather conditions. He stated that in collaboration with the hospital's Public Health, Primary Health Care, Dermatology, and Emergency departments, the alert level has been raised to effectively deal with any potential monkeypox infection.

He continued by reiterating that the epidemiological situation in the area is still stable while highlighting the decline in Covid cases across the nation. He claimed that Adan Hospital closely tracks epidemic and emerging disease developments as well as announcements made by relevant national and local authorities.
