KUWAITI SHOP HOURS TO BE RESTRICTED

  • 09/09/2022

Kuwait City: The Kuwait Municipality's senior management has reiterated the necessity of putting resolution number 215 of 2009 into effect, which limits the operating hours of stores in private residential areas to no later than midnight, excluding central markets and pharmacies.

According to sources, requests for exemptions must be approved by the interior ministry. Several complaints about the decision were made to the Municipality's responsible department, according to sources, but this is outside of its purview. According to sources, the Interior Ministry was given this task by the Cabinet in 2007. One of the most significant proposals, according to sources, is to permit some businesses to operate online past the established working hours. This proposal needs the ministry's approval.
