KUWAIT LAUNCHED WINTER VACCINATION CAMPAIGN

  • 27/09/2022

Kuwait City: Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad, spokesman for the Ministry of Health, announced the launch of a winter vaccination campaign for the 2022/2023 season through 46 health centres across all governorates. The campaign, according to Al-Sanad, includes vaccination against seasonal influenza and acute bacterial pneumonia (nemococal). He stated that the vaccination campaign will begin at all of the locations identified by the Ministry on its social media accounts.

However, registration and prior appointment are required via the Ministry's website. In the same context, Dr. Hamad Bastaki, Head of the Infectious Diseases Control Department in the Public Health Sector at the Ministry of Health, emphasised the importance of the initiative to receive vaccination, unless there is a medical impediment, emphasising that vaccination reduces the possibility of infection and, in the event of infection, limits complications and hospitalisation due to complications.

He stated that pregnant women should receive influenza vaccination (not pneumococcal vaccination) at any time during their pregnancy for protection, emphasising the importance of influenza vaccination for lactating women, children aged 6 months to 5 years, those with chronic diseases, and others to protect themselves from severe complications caused by influenza infection.
