ENVIRONMENT AUTHORITY APPROVAL TO RENEW VEHICLE REGISTRATION IN KUWAIT SOON

Kuwait City: Local newspapers reported that procedures for obtaining approval from the Environment Authority before renewing vehicle registrations are being completed and the system will be implemented soon. The Home Ministry is awaiting the appointment of contractors for the management and operation of technical testing centers to measure the percentage of smoke emitted by cars before renewing vehicle registrations.


The Environment Authority and the Ministry of Home Affairs had signed a memorandum of cooperation to obtain EPA approval before renewing the vehicles. The authority will inspect the vehicles and its emission rates and issue a report of the condition of each vehicle and attach it to its file for technical inspection. The emission percentage will be calculated according to the type and size of the vehicle as per national and international norms and vehicles that do not meet the emission norms will not be renewed.
