ALCOHOL SALES ARE PROHIBITED IN QATARI WORLD CUP STADIUMS

Alcohol will not be sold to fans at the World Cup's eight stadiums in Qatar, according to Fifa, which changed its policy two days before the tournament began.

Despite the fact that alcohol is strictly prohibited in the Muslim country, it was planned to be served "in select areas within stadiums."

Those in corporate areas of tournament stadiums will be able to purchase alcohol.

The World Cup begins on Sunday, when Qatar takes on Ecuador.
