Apart from acting, many Indian celebrities are putting money into start ups. B-town actress Alia Bhatt’s clothing brand Ed- a-Mamma is set to be acquired by Reliance Industries, one of India’s largest conglomerate, for 3 billion rupees ($36 million), three years after launching it, according to an Indian newspaper. Deepika Padukone launched a skincare brand called 82°E last year, about the same time her husband Ranveer Singh purchased a stake in beauty company Sugar Cosmetics.
