India launches 'Aditya-L1' to study sun

On September 2, India’s National Space Organization ISRO launched its long-awaited Solar mission, “Aditya-L1", after the success of historic lunar expedition, “Chandrayan”-3. The 44.4 meter tall PSLV lifted off at 11:50 am from the spaceport which is located on India’s Eastern coast, about 135 kms from Chennai. According to ISRO, ‘Aditya’-L1 will be India’s first space observatory to study the Sun.
