Kuwait’s Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad delivered a speech at the Gulf-US Summit in Riyadh, stressing the importance of establishing a more stable, balanced, and integrated regional order based on international law, mutual respect, and shared interests. He firmly rejected any actions that threaten the security or sovereignty of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states.

Expressing gratitude to King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for hosting the summit, the Amir also thanked President Donald Trump for his commitment to strengthening the Gulf-US strategic partnership, which has expanded beyond security into areas such as innovation, entrepreneurship, trade, and investment.

The Amir highlighted the importance of launching joint investment initiatives, supporting innovation, promoting fair trade, and encouraging small and medium-sized enterprises. He called for enhanced US-GCC cooperation, particularly in development and humanitarian fields, proposing a Gulf-US forum for cultural and educational dialogue.

On regional challenges, he underlined two key points:

  1. The urgent need for a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue based on UN resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative, ensuring the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

  2. Strengthening international efforts to ensure Syria’s stability, unity, and sovereignty, appreciating President Trump’s announcement to lift sanctions on Syria.

He also welcomed the diplomatic efforts by Oman leading to a ceasefire agreement in Yemen and appreciated US roles in resolving international conflicts, including between India and Pakistan and in the Ukraine war.

In closing, the Amir reaffirmed that regional stability is a shared responsibility and that the US-GCC partnership remains a cornerstone of future cooperation. He expressed hope that the summit marks a step forward toward building a more stable and integrated regional system.
