Kuwait has achieved a 44 percent increase in breast cancer recovery rates in 2025, attributed to extensive awareness campaigns and early detection training that has reached 172,000 female students. The National Cancer Awareness Campaign (CAN) launched its "Pink Lifebuoy" initiative under the patronage of Minister Dr. Amthal Al-Huwaila and Kuwait Petroleum Corporation, continuing throughout October to promote health awareness and encourage early screening.

CAN Chairman Dr. Khaled Al-Saleh confirmed that breast cancer remains the most prevalent cancer among Kuwaiti women, with 582 recorded cases including 326 Kuwaiti nationals and 256 non-Kuwaiti residents. Encouraging data shows 94.5 percent of patients diagnosed in 2020 remain alive, with most cases detected at the second stage. Dr. Hessa Al Shaheen, board member and initiative head, emphasized that the 14-year campaign has significantly increased women's participation in self-examination training, mammograms, and educational workshops at companies and universities.

The campaign emphasizes monthly self-examination as a crucial early detection method, contributing to Kuwait's improving cancer survival statistics and demonstrating the effectiveness of sustained public health education programs in combating breast cancer through prevention and early intervention strategies.
