MAFIA HUNTING "JAGUAR" TIGERS AND SELLING MEAT TO HIGH-END RESTAURANTS

The Earth Association International (ELI) Institute has conducted an investigation to uncover the criminal networks behind the illegal trade and poaching of animals in wildlife from 2018 to 2020.

The institute revealed the mode of operation of traders and the methods of transporting animals, as the results of the investigations showed that the demand for  the jaguar comes from parts of Asia and that the trade in general is managed by the Chinese residing in Bolivia.
International criminal groups made up of Chinese citizens from South America control the poaching of jaguar tigers, which are concentrated in the Bolivian provinces of Santa Cruz and Beni, where they ship goods using commercial air flights and in most cases, illegal traders bribe the police or customs officials to facilitate the transportation procedures.

The investigation also uncovered the illegal sale of jaguar meat in some high-end restaurants in Bolivia, although the extermination of tigers for food was banned by a decision of the Bolivian Ministry of Environment and Water Resources in April 2020. The Chinese attribute medical power to parts of the jaguar and often use jaguar tusks in jewelry to symbolize prestige," said Andrea Crosta, co-founder of the International Earth Association.
